Roofglaze supplement a high-end apartment building
Studio Power Architects designed Cluny Mews, a brilliant development inspired by the fascinating history of the city around it. Located close to many of London’s attractions, the project blends modern architecture with its Victorian surroundings and traditional gardens, offering residents a rich urban lifestyle.
Cluny Mews lives up to its promise of being luxuriously furnished, and we had the pleasure of working alongside SPA to realise their vision of a naturally lit, sociable, upper-class development.
Bespoke Rooflight shapes cater to Studio Power Architects’ creativity
At roof level, we designed and manufactured two Bespoke Curved Multi-Section Rooflights, one of which perfectly parallels the graceful shape of the spiral staircase below. During the day, this notably large rooflight illuminates the staircase all the way to the building’s ground floor.
The second follows the gentle faceted curve of the building, with 25 sections reaching a spectacular length of over 27 metres. This rooflight floods Cluny Mews with natural light that travels through the building via the Walk On Rooflights installed in the corridors below. Both shaped rooflights utilise Class 1 Non-Fragile compliant glazing to ensure the glass is safe to be walked on for occasional maintenance purposes, offering protection to maintenance workers operating on the roof.
A unique and exciting twist on our Walk On Rooflights has them fitted on a floor inside Cluny Mews, as opposed to on the roof. Unlike most internal units, these rooflights utilise double-glazed insulating glass rather than the usual non-insulating variant, as this helps to reduce heat transfer between floors.
Manufactured by us to meet SPA’s specifications, these Multi-Section Rooflights are Class 0 Non-Fragile compliant, meaning that they can withstand regular foot traffic. Supporting the upmarket reputation that Cluny Mews aims for, this allows residents and visitors to walk on the glass in the hallways and maximises the reach of the natural light provided from the rooflight at roof level.
A big thank you to Studio Power Architects for choosing us for their project.
